Petrolia town office drying out

The municipal office in Petrolia was closed Friday.

Mayor John McCharles said heavy rain Tuesday night resulted in flooding in the office portion of Victoria Hall.

"The drainage around the municipal office just couldn't take the water away fast enough," said McCharles. "It entered the building and flooded a lot of the office space. It's only basically floor damage, but a considerable amount of drying has to take place."

The rest of the building was not affected and was open for business as usual.

It's hoped town hall can reopen Monday when things dry out.
