French language separate trustee elected in delayed vote

The city clerk's office has released the unofficial result of the delayed French Language Separate School Board election covering Lambton, Huron and Bruce counties.

Sylvie C. Chmielewski claimed the seat with 202 votes, beating Emilie Sylvain-Lindsay with 120 votes and Louis Guimond with 86 votes.

A number of municipalities within Area 1 had technical difficulties during Monday's municipal elections and voting periods were extended one full day until 8 p.m. Tuesday.

Pierre Lambert won the French Language Public School Board vote by acclamation.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
