Police looking for scratch ticket thief

Sarnia police are investigating the theft of lottery tickets at a Russell Street convenience store.

Constable John Sottosanti says at about 9:15 p.m. on Monday, a male suspect asked to purchase a ticket from the clerk behind the counter.

He says once the clerk removed the tray, the suspect grabbed it and ran off with several hundred dollars worth of lottery tickets.

Constable Sottosanti says the suspect is described as about five foot seven, five foot eight with a thin build and clean shaven. He was wearing a white hooded jacket and a ball cap.

"If an individual does attend a store with a handful of tickets we strongly recommend you take time to recognize the person," said Sottosanti.

Surveillance video from the store is posted on Facebook.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Sarnia police or Crime Stoppers.
