Sting douse Firebirds

The Sarnia Sting doubled the Flint Firebirds 4-2 at the Progressive Auto Sales Arena ending a three game losing streak.

It was Flint's twelfth straight loss to start the season.

Defenceman Kelton Hatcher scored his first career OHL goal for Sarnia at the 13:36 mark of the first period.

"I was just sitting up at the point and I saw 'Guysee' (Brandon Guy) walking up the wall so I tried to just get open a little bit and he saw me and made a nice pass. Then I kind of buried my head and shot it. Luckily we had a good screen on and I don't think the goalie ever saw it."

Twenty seconds after Hatcher's goal Calvin Martin (4) scored for Sarnia.

Jack Wismer (2) tallied for the Firebirds in the second frame.

Franco Sproviero (4) made it 3-1 Sarnia with a goal early in the third and Ryan McGregor (5) potted an empty-netter for the Sting.

Jacob Winterton (5) completed the scoring for the Firebirds.

Ethan Langevin stopped 28 of 30 shots for Sarnia while Emanuel Vella made 20 saves for Flint who host the Sting Saturday at 7:00 p.m. The pregame show starts at at 6:40 p.m. on 103.9 FM - 1070 AM CHOK.
