Sarnia garage fire a total loss

Fire officials in Sarnia say a garage blaze has completely destroyed the structure.

Sarnia Fire Rescue Services responded to a call around 2:15 p.m. Sunday on a report of a structure fire on King St. near Oakdale Ave. Crews arrived at the scene and found a detached garage completely involved.

Platoon Chief Bill Sheane said firefighters were able to quickly contain the fire before it spread to the main house, though there was damage to the exterior and windows of the house. Three fire companies assisted at the scene.

The garage and the contents were a total loss, said Sheane. There were no injuries reported. The occupants of the house were able to get out unhurt.

The damage estimate to the garage, its contents and the house is around $75,000. The cause of the fire is believed to be electrical, but was officially declared undetermined.
