Teddy Bear Toss kickoff at Lambton Ford

The Sarnia Sting and Lambton Ford are gearing up for the 2018 Teddy Bear Toss.

Over the last 20 years over 59,000 stuffed toys have been collected for area children.

At a campaign kickoff Tuesday morning at Lambton Ford, President Rob Ravensberg said they distribute the donated toys to over a dozen local organizations including the Salvation Army, the Women's Interval Home, Inn of the Good Shepherd and Victim Services.

"One of my biggest stresses going through it, is reaching the number each year because we have so many charities now that we deliver to," said Ravensberg. "Last year we had 15 charities that we reached out to with the donations we received , we had a record year last year with over 4,200 donations. This year we've already added another one."

Fans are invited to throw stuffed toys on the ice at Progressive Auto Sales Arena when the Sting score their first goal against visiting Kingston Saturday afternoon December 8.

It's hoped 4,000 toys will be collected this year.

Donations can also be dropped off Blackburn Radio at 1415 London Road.
