No injuries in Sarnia house fire

Sarnia Fire Rescue Services says the cause of a weekend house fire is undetermined.

Firefighters responded to a call just before 10 p.m. Friday about a structure fire at Devine St. near Christina St. S. When crews arrived at the location, they found flames coming out of the back of the one-storey home, with smoke pouring from the gable ends and roof vents.

The first responders were able to put the fire out without it spreading to the adjacent home, just feet away. Firefighters from three stations were needed to put the blaze out, according to Sarnia Fire Rescue Services platoon chief Bill Sheane.

There were no injuries in the incident. Three people who were in the house were able to get out unharmed.

The Ontario Fire Marshal's Office was called and an investigator was on scene Saturday, said Sheane. Damage has been estimated at $75,000.
