Two local projects are getting funding boosts thanks to grants from the Judith and Norman Alix Foundation.
The organization has given $60,000 to upgrade Forest's Kineto Theatre and $50,000 to Big Brothers and Big Sisters for a multi-use sports court.
Spokesman Adam Alix said the goal is always to make the community a better place.
"Anytime we can contribute or partner with others that are trying to make a difference in our community, that's really what we're trying to do," said Alix. "It just makes Sarnia-Lambton a better place and our outreach into the county has been much better over the past few years. We hope to see more involvement in the rural parts as well."
Over its 30 year history, the Judith and Norman Alix Foundation has given more than $5 million to over 20 community projects.
They include withdrawal management services at Bluewater Health, construction of the Judith and Norman Alix Art Gallery, the installation of artificial turf at Norm Perry Park, and a van for the Inn of the Good Shepherd.
Alix said they're moving to a once yearly application intake in 2019. Next year's applications will be received until April 1.
