Police box in vehicle, arrest driver

Sarnia police arrested a 51-year-old city man over the weekend, after boxing in a vehicle that was being driven erratically in the city.

Shortly after 9 p.m. on Saturday, police responded to St. Andrew Street and Vidal Street South after a witness reported a black GMC Yukon swerving all over the road and almost hitting oncoming traffic.

The witness had followed the vehicle from Corunna.

Officers located the vehicle in south Sarnia and followed it northbound on Queen Street at a slow rate of speed with emergency lights and sirens activated.

The vehicle was eventually stopped after it was boxed in by another officer who had parked his cruiser ahead, in the area of Queen Street and Devine Street.

The driver faces charges of impaired driving, driving while disqualified, and refusing to provide a breath sample.
