Simon Warder squash tournament raises $50K

The Simon Warder Memorial Prostate Cancer Pro-Am tournament at Huron Oaks wrapped up on Saturday night.

The event raised $50,000 to be split between Bluewater Health Prostate Care Clinic and St. Joseph's Hospice.

Canadian Sam Cornett, ranked number 31 in the world, won the women's draw in a 3-0 match against Lucy Termel of England.

Shahjahan Khan of Pakistan beat Henrik Mustonen of Finland in a tight match 3-2. Both champions qualified for the World Cup in Chicago 2019.

Tournament Chair Kevin Bradd said the tournament was a big success and that people from around the world including Columbia and Singapore were streaming the matches live.

The tournament will be back next year in November.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
