Renos completed at Brooke-Alvinston-Inwood Community Centre

Don McGugan is excited to leave the local arena in better shape than when he started his last term as mayor of Brooke-Alvinston.

$175,000 in renovations and upgrades have recently been completed at the Brooke-Alvinston-Inwood Community Centre Complex.

"The times have changed, our citizens are getting older and the government has come out with new handicap accessible rules, and for four years we've been trying to get this done," said McGugan.

He said they worked hard to enhance accessibility to the building.

"We have one unisex handicap washroom, there's a new men's washroom, a new ladies washroom upstairs -- we've been blessed with an elevator for 15 years -- and then the kitchen, nothing had been done to it in 41 years so we stripped the kitchen back to absolutely nothing," said McGugan.

He said it's really beautiful now.

"We've got new cupboards, new fridge, new industrial dishwasher, a new industrial stove. So, I think we made real progress in there and it's more rentable then it ever was before," said McGugan.

Don and Anne McGugan, CommonWealth Financial in Strathroy and the Municipality of Brooke-Alvinston contributed to the project.

A special grand opening of the space is planned for November 22 at 11 a.m.
