UPDATE: Police dog leads officers to break-in suspect

Sarnia police have made an arrest following a break-in at a hydro compound in the College Park area.

The Sarnia Police Service said officers received a call from an alarm monitoring company early Friday morning, after a break-and-enter in progress was spotted on a live video feed of the compound on Conestoga Drive.

Officers responded to the scene and found a man inside the fenced compound, but he took off running once he spotted police.  The OPP canine unit was then called in and officers contained the area.

The canine unit led officers to the area of Exmouth Street and Lambton Mall Road, where a suspect was found hiding in a thicket in a field.  The 30-year-old man was arrested at around 7 a.m. and is now charged with break-and-enter, mischief to property and possession of break-in tools. He was scheduled to appear in bail court on Friday.
