Sting defeat the Generals 3-2 in Oshawa

Hugo Leufvenius scored twice as the Sarnia Sting beat the Generals 3-2 in Oshawa Sunday afternoon.

The Sting are now tied for third in the OHL West Division with the Windsor Spitfires, each with 26 points.

The first period was scoreless until there was 1:27 remaining, and Eric Henderson scored a short-handed goal to put Oshawa up first. Just over a minute later, Leufvenius' first goal of the afternoon was scored on the power play, for a 1-1 deadlock at the intermission.

The Generals took a 2-1 lead when Serron Noel scored his 16th goal of the season at 2:46 in the middle period. The Sting responded with back-to-back goals to hold a 3-2 lead after 40 minutes of play. Leufvenius found the net for a second time in the game at 3:40, and Adam Ruzicka had the go-ahead goal late in the frame.

There was no scoring in the third period, though each side had ten shots on goal apiece.

Ethan Langevin was the winner between the pipes for Sarnia, with 28 saves out of a possible 30. Kyle Keyser had 49 saves in goal for the Generals.

The Sting hit the road Thursday night and face the Saginaw Spirit.
