City building pace off in 2018

The value of building permits issued in Sarnia is well off the pace set in 2017 with one month to go.

City hall reports that 44 permits were issued in November worth a total of $5.7 million.

That raises the year-to-date total to $81.8 million, compared to $104 million through 11 months of 2017.

A couple of permits for building construction at Arlanxeo at 1265 Vidal St. S add up to nearly $1.6 million dollars.

A $1 million permit was also issued for building renovation at 494 Christina St. N.

There were only two permits for single-family homes in Sarnia in November for a year-to-date total of 77, compared to 94 in 2017.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
