'Mall Cops' spend day shopping with special kids

Sarnia police officers were armed with Christmas wish lists Wednesday afternoon, as they spent the day shopping at Lambton Mall with some special area-kids.

The sixth annual Cop Shop event had the volunteer officers join forces with 23 children to spend their $200 gift cards donated by the Sarnia mall.

The kids were driven from their schools to the mall in limousines to buy winter clothing, toys and Christmas gifts. Their day was then capped off with a visit from Santa Claus.

The students chosen for Cop Shop were recommended by their schools for displaying leadership, role-modelling and anti-bullying behaviour. Students with academic and sports achievements and those who've made a difference through volunteering were also chosen.
