UPDATE: Man arrested in Courtright standoff

A 32-year-old man is in police custody in connection with a barricaded person incident that started late Friday night in Courtright.

Police contained the area around a residence near Emi Street and Councillors Street.

They said that due to safety concerns for those involved in the investigation, specialized units from the OPP West Region Tactics & Rescue Unit (TRU), Emergency Response Team (ERT), OPP Canine and crisis negotiators, responded to the scene to assist members from the Lambton County OPP Detachment.

Saturday morning at about 10:30 a.m. a man from St. Clair Township was taken into police custody without incident.

He is in custody pending a bail hearing on criminal charges.

Police remained in the area Saturday continuing the investigation but all roads had reopened by noon.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
