Oil Springs man dies after fall from tree

Provincial police have confirmed a 69-year-old man has died in a tragic accident in Enniskillen Township.

Lambton OPP and Lambton Emergency Medical Services responded to an address on Courtright Line just after 4 p.m. on Tuesday.

Cst. Jamie Stanley told Blackburn News that a man accidentally fell out of a tree while pruning limbs.

He was transported to hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Cst. Stanley said the incident is not being investigated as a workplace accident or a farming accident.

The OPP did not release the man's name but an obituary announcement said John Klapak of Oil Springs died suddenly Tuesday, "doing what he loved to do."

Visitation is planned Friday at Needham-Jay Funeral Home in Petrolia, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. and a funeral mass will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. at St. Philip's Parish in Petrolia.
