Waterville TG says more layoffs possible in Petrolia

Waterville TG anticipates that more layoffs will be necessary at its Petrolia plant in February and March.

The word comes after temporary layoff notices were issued to 32 unionized workers between December 2018 and January 2019.

The company said due to the cyclical nature of the automotive industry, the facility is facing the planned completion of its current Corolla program and changes to existing customer volumes which have required manpower reductions.

Waterville said the Petrolia plant has secured a new Honda Civic program launching in 2020, and continues to look for other opportunities for new business.

The company is working with the entire team to continue to improve health and safety, and efficiencies in order to meet current customer needs.
