Pickleball players net new courts

Local pickleball players will soon have an outdoor court of their own to play on in Sarnia.

Six courts are set to open in Blackwell Park this summer, meaning players will no longer have to play on area tennis courts.

City Manager of Recreation and Planning Ryan Chamney said the acrylic courts surrounded by fencing will provide a great spot for new and experienced players.

"Unfortunately we were unable to complete the project for the 2018 season," said Chamney. "Site improvements will continue throughout the winter and by early summer we'll have our grand opening and the community will be out there, able to play pickleball."

Chamney said the entire project is expected cost around $120,000.
