Silver Stick scrambling for volunteers

This weekend marks the 50th anniversary of Sarnia Boys International Silver Stick, and organizers are in need of volunteers to help out.

Teams are coming from across North America, competing in the Midget and Atom divisions.

Tournament Director Mark Colbran said volunteers are the backbone of the event.

"My volunteer co-ordinator is scrambling right now, we're really short on volunteers on Friday during the day for scorekeeping and timekeeping," said Colbran. "We take really good care of our volunteers. The volunteers are what make this tournament go, I can't say enough about them. They are just phenomenal , phenomenal people."

Those interested can email Corey Taylor at silverstickvolunteers@gmail.com or call 519-331-8401.

Training for scorekeepers is being held Thursday evening at 6 p.m. at the Holiday Inn.

The opening ceremonies are in conjunction with the Sarnia Sting game on Friday night.
