Point Edward firefighters handle 'puppy gate' predicament

A playful puppy got into a bit of a pickle at the Sarnia Humane Society last week.

On Friday, Timber, a two-month-old Siberian Husky, got his head stuck in a baby-gate at the Exmouth Street shelter.

Manager Nicole King said the incident required some help from the Point Edward Fire Department.

"We called them, and they actually came and used their tool to spread the bars apart so they broke and the puppy's head could come out," she said.

Since getting his head unstuck, Timber has been adopted and is now at his forever home.

The door to the animal shelter "puppy room" is closed at night but baby gates are used during the day.

King said this isn't the first time the local fire department has assisted them with an animal.

She said about 20 years ago, Point Edward firefighters were called to help out with a snake that also got stuck in a bar.
