Woman charged in 402 chain reaction crash

Lambton OPP released further information Tuesday about a multi-vehicle crash that closed the 402 in Sarnia for several hours last Thursday.

At around 6 p.m., Lambton OPP said an SUV entered the westbound highway from the Christina Street on-ramp, changed lanes and came into collision with a westbound transport.

Police say the collision forced the 18-wheeler into another lane colliding with a stopped transport, which then hit another stopped transport in front of it.

While the crash initially resulted in only a lane closure, all westbound lanes were closed for about an hour before the scene was cleared at around 11 p.m.

Lambton OPP said minor injuries were reported in the chain reaction crash.

The SUV driver, a 38-year-old Sarnia woman, is charged with making an unsafe lane change.
