Sarnia police seize loaded firearm

Sarnia police have arrested a man after seizing a loaded firearm from a home on East Street North between Bright Street and George Street.

Officers were called to the home around 10 a.m. Thursday.

They said a friend of the residents came to the home with a gun, and the occupants feared for his safety.

The occupants were able to take the handgun from the man after he fell asleep.

Police arrested the suspect without incident, and he was being held pending a bail hearing.

A 30-year-old man was being held pending a bail hearing on possession of methamphetamine and firearm-related charges.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
