Man charged with impaired after collisions

Several thousand dollars worth of damage is reported in a collision involving an alleged drunk driver Friday night.

Sarnia police say a vehicle struck a fire hydrant just before 11:50 p.m. in the area of Christina Street and Tecumseh Street and left the scene.

A short time later, a single-vehicle crash was reported at the very south end of Christina Street. Police said the driver had slammed into a fixed object at gates in the area and was injured. The 25-year-old male driver was taken to hospital for observation.

Police said breath tests indicated he was over twice the legal limit.

New military crosswalk in Sarnia to be unveiled

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
