Additional Y daycare spaces being built

It's good news for parents in Sarnia-Lambton.

More daycare spaces will soon be available at the YMCA's Learning and Career Child Care Centre in Sarnia.

The Oakdale Avenue site is undergoing extensive renovations to add 10 infant and 15 toddler spaces.

YMCA Vice President of Children's Educational Services Jo-elle Rinker said that's in addition to the 16 existing preschool spaces at the facility.

"Right now we have one classroom, but this is going to allow us to expand to two additional classrooms," said Rinker. "Plus, we'll have a kitchen so it will be fully operational childcare centre."

It's hoped renovations will be complete by March.

The project was made possible through funding from the Ontario government.

Those interested in applying for a spot can do so through Lambton OneList at www.onehsn.com/lambton.
