The Sarnia Quilters' Guild is celebrating its 40th anniversary with a unique exhibition at the Judith and Norman Alix Art Gallery.
"Kaleidoscope" features over 30 quilts inspired by art, colour, and history.
Spokesperson Janet Dudek said they also have a wall in the lobby to create a community quilt that will be donated to Big Sisters of Sarnia-Lambton.
"The art gallery has created a design wall in the large, brightly coloured, corner room with velcro on the wall," said Dudek. "There are pieces of velcro on the little blocks, and there are 300 of them to choose from. People can pick up one of these and stick it on the wall, move it around, change it, and add to it. We're hoping that by the end of the two months the wall will be filled with all of the blocks that we've made. Members will then come into the gallery and put it all together."
Meanwhile, "Flying School" by Quebec artist Diane Landry is also coming to the art gallery.
That piece has 25 umbrellas come to life as living, breathing entities in a garden of colour and sound.
The free exhibitions open at 6 p.m. on Friday and will continue until March 31.
