Sarnia hosts Oil Springs Ollie for Groundhog Day

Oil Springs Ollie will make his Groundhog Day prediction in Sarnia Saturday.

Donna Kelso with Sarnia's Seaway Kiwanis Club said they've planned a special ceremony at Canatara Park after being approached by Ollie's caregivers at Heaven's Wildlife Rescue.

"We've agreed to have it at the Animal Farm, February 2nd at 9 a.m.," said Kelso. "We're hoping to have the mayor and all of the councillors present."

Kelso said an educational component to teach kids about groundhogs is planned as well.

"I'm quite certain there will be a lot of people show up on a Saturday morning to enjoy that," said Kelso.

In 2018, the furry weather forecaster spotted his shadow, predicting six more weeks of winter.
