Inwood man's death part of inquest into roofing fatalities

A coroner's inquest will be held into the deaths of three roofers including an Inwood man in May of 2017.

William Swan, 56, fell 20 to 25 feet to the ground while working on the roofing trusses of a barn on Rokeby Line in Enniskillen Township.

Regional Supervising Coroner Dr. Rick Mann announced Wednesday that a joint inquest will examine the circumstances surrounding the deaths of Swan, and two other roofers at different projects.

John Janssens, 73, of Wallaceburg died in January 2016 after suffering injuries from a fall, and 19-year-old Michael Maukonen of Windsor died in June 2016 after never regaining consciousness from an incident in December 2015.

The date and location of the inquest, with Dr. Elizabeth Urbantke presiding, will be announced later.

The jury may make recommendations aimed at preventing future deaths.
