There are six candidates vying for the Conservative party nomination in Lambton-Kent-Middlesex riding in this year's federal election.
The nomination period closed Thursday with Pete Aarssen, Peter Cuddy, Greg Hetherington, Mattheu Kok, Bruce Lamb, and Lianne Rood being confirmed as candidates.
One of the six will be chosen to represent the Conservatives in the riding after veteran MP Bev Shipley announced last July that he was not seeking re-election.
The 71-year-old Shipley has represented Lambton-Kent-Middlesex in Ottawa since 2006.
Federal Conservative members in the riding, as of February 21, will have the chance to vote at one of two nomination meetings next month.
The first is Friday March 22 at Dresden Arena beginning at 6 p.m., and the second will be held the following day, Saturday March 23, at Strathroy's Portuguese Canadian Club starting at 10 a.m.
The successful candidate will be announced after voting closes at 2 p.m. on the Saturday and the ballots are counted.
The 43rd Canadian federal election is scheduled for October 21.
