Driver allegedly found asleep behind the wheel

A 55-year-old Sarnia man has been charged with impaired driving after allegedly being found passed out behind the wheel.

City police were called to the area of London Road near Mayfair Drive around 3 a.m. Monday.

When officers arrived, the vehicle was still running, the headlights were on, and there was a small black dog inside.

They say it took several attempts to awake the man, and the officer formed reasonable grounds to arrest him for impaired operation of a motor vehicle.

The man was transported back to police headquarters where officers allegedly found a small quantity of marijuana hashish and a roach from a marijuana cigarette.

Police say breath tests confirmed the man had 80 milligrams of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood.
