Another downtown bank is closing

Sarnia's downtown is losing another bank branch.

The Bank of Montreal on Christina Street will move its main office operations to the Exmouth Street branch effective June 21, 2019.

In a letter to branch customers, BMO said all accounts, loans and investments will automatically be transferred to the new location.

The bank said there will be no employment impact at either site.

It's the latest in a series of bank closures in downtown Sarnia.

The CIBC branch closed in May of last year and the County of Lambton purchased the building in November.

The downtown and London Road Royal Bank branches merged at a new Lambton Mall location last fall.
