That prompted Environment Canada to issue a special weather statement that included Sarnia-Lambton.
The weather agency said total snowfall accumulations of about 10 centimetres, four inches, were likely by Wednesday evening.
Motorists were being urged to exercise caution and adjust to changing road conditions.
The special weather statement was ended for Sarnia-Lambton at around 4 p.m.
Local runners will lace up this weekend in support of cancer research.

A meet the candidates night is planned on Monday, September 21 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Maawn Doosh Gumig Community and Youth Centre.
The series will bring both aspiring and established business owners together on Tuesday evenings at the Maawn Doosh Gumig Community Centre.
Gates for the three-day fair will open at the Wyoming Fair Grounds on Main Street on Friday, September 18, at 5 p.m., with opening ceremonies beginning at 7 p.m.
