Time to spring forward

When you turn your clocks ahead this weekend, Sarnia Fire Rescue Services would also like you to test your smoke alarms.

Fire Life Safety Educator Mike Otis said don't forget to check your CO alarms as well.

He said it's not just the batteries you should be checking either.

"Always check the date," said Otis. "The National Fire Protection Association did a survey a couple of years back, and nine of ten adults didn't realize that smoke alarms expire every 10 years. So, when you're changing your batteries, check the date on your smoke alarm and make sure it's less than 10 years old."

Clocks spring forward Sunday at 2 a.m.

The change means the sun will set later in the evening.

Daylight Saving Time ends on November 3.
