Distraught male rescued from Sarnia Bay

Police rescued a male from the frigid waters of Sarnia Bay late Saturday night.

Officers responded to reports of a distraught male walking into the freezing water at Centennial Park just after 11 p.m.

Upon arrival, an officer located the male up to his shoulders in the water and continuing to walk out into the river, before rushing in to grab him.

The unidentified male was brought to shore and taken to Bluewater Health.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
