Construction season underway in city

Spring road construction is underway in the city.

Sarnia Construction Manager Rob Williams said they were a bit slow off the mark this year.

"We're a little behind because of the late budget, but we're making it work," said Williams. "We had a lot of projects that are running over from last year."

He said crews started work on John Street this week and work on Waterworks Road, north of Lakeshore Road in Bright's Grove, is set to start soon.

"Right now we are looking at tentatively starting on April 8th. Essex Street we are looking at starting in early May," said Williams.

Williams said they're also working with the Village of Point Edward to develop and finalize a tender for asphalt resurfacing on Christina Street, between Highway 402 and Michigan Road.

He said up until now crews have been really busy filling potholes.

Williams said there was plenty to fill because of the up and down temperatures this winter.
