Spirits soar with new mascot at french school (VIDEO & GALLERY)

Students at École catholique Saint-Thomas-d’Aquin erupted with excitement as a new logo, colours and mascot were unveiled Friday morning.

Sarnia's only french catholic school will be now be represented by a falcon on all of its imagery.

Principal Melissa St-Denis said the former logo, a flame, dated back to before she was a student at the school.

"It's been a while since they had something new and fresh," said St-Denis. "The falcon represents success, it's the most powerful bird of all. It represents a clean environment, the blue represents our lakes and the the yellow represents the spirit -- because we are a catholic school."

275 students from Junior Kindergarten to Grade 6 attend the school, some from as far as Grand Bend, Camlachie and Corunna.

New military crosswalk in Sarnia to be unveiled

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
