Apartment fire causes extensive damage

A Tuesday morning fire caused extensive damage to an apartment building on Queen Street.

Sarnia Fire Life Safety Educator Mike Otis said crews responded to a four storey building in the 100 block at around 3:30 a.m.

He said the cause is still under investigation.

"There are no injuries to report. No one was in the unit of origin at the time of the fire, however, there is extensive damage to the unit of origin, and the damage estimate is upwards of $300,000," said Otis. "The damage estimate is including the smoke damage-- there was thick smoke through the whole hallway."

Otis said all but two residents were able to return to their apartments.
