Sting make three picks in U-18 draft

The Sarnia Sting drafted three players, including a local forward, in Wednesday's U-18 Priority Selection.

The Sting elected to go with another goaltender, choosing 16-year-old Curtis Boothe from the Markham Majors with the sixth overall pick.

Sarnia selected Don Mills Flyers defenceman Nikolas Vanclief 26th overall, and Lambton Jr. Sting forward Ben Diamond 46th overall.

Diamond, a Strathroy native, had 17 goals and 11 assists in 31 games with the Jr. Sting, and also put up a goal and a helper in five games with the GOJHL's Strathroy Rockets.

The draft is for midget players born in 2001 or 2002 who aren't the property of an OHL team.
