Local business encouraged to help NOVA workforce 'Find-It'

A Chemical Valley company is encouraging local businesses to promote their services for free through a mobile app.

NOVA Chemicals launched the FindIt Lambton program on April 4, an initiative designed to connect their construction workforce to Lambton County businesses.

Spokesperson Meaghan Lawrence said the mobile app is intended to be a one-stop shop for tradespeople working at NOVA.

"We want to contribute to the local economy, build community and be a good neighbour, and the app is one way we are doing that. We want to encourage local businesses to promote their services through the app-- registration is free and easy," said Lawrence.

Lawrence said local businesses have a great opportunity to promote their business and help construction workers find what they need in Lambton County.

She said the app will offer everything from food and beverage service to rental accommodations, retail, entertainment and more.

NOVA estimates its construction projects will provide employment opportunities for upwards of 1,000 people -- they say the projects will also create about 150 permanent full-time jobs, including an estimated 750 additional jobs in the community.
