Murder suspect remanded in custody

A 30-year-old Sarnia man, charged in the city's first homicide in three years, makes another court appearance later this week.

Matthew Gerard Theriault is to speak to a charge of second degree murder Thursday.

He remains in custody in connection with a violent altercation between two men last Wednesday afternoon on Maxwell Street near St. Vincent Street.

A 26-year-old man who suffered critical injuries was found lying on the ground outside a residence.

Jesse Mowat-Caudle died in London hospital early Thursday morning.

Police have not said whether any weapons were involved.

The investigation continues and anyone with information about the incident is asked to call police or Crime Stoppers.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
