Two people arrested for impaired driving

City police arrested two more impaired drivers over the Easter weekend.

At around 12:30 a.m. Monday, Sarnia police were called to a bar in the area of Devine Street and Indian Road for a disturbance.

Officers arrived to find the accused parties about to leave in a vehicle and allege the driver, a 27-year-old woman, was impaired by alcohol.

On Sunday, just after 1 a.m. an officer on patrol saw a large pickup truck at Colborne Road and Capel Street nearly rear-end a vehicle stopped at a stop sign.

When police tried to stop the vehicle it allegedly accelerated into oncoming traffic on Colborne Road, and hopped the curb before coming to a stop on the front lawn of an address in the 900 block.

Police say the 39-year-old male driver from Petrolia blew over twice the legal limit.

Sarnia police were busy over the Easter weekend with 208 calls. They included 11 thefts, 11 domestic disputes, 13 unwanted persons, and 10 motor vehicle crashes.
