Police seize 'homemade winch' in marina theft investigation

Sarnia police are looking for information about a homemade winch they believe was used to pull copper wiring from Sarnia Bay Marina.

The battery powered device was among the tools seized by police in their investigation of recent thefts that caused hundreds of thousands of dollars damage to the dock.

Anyone with any information about the winch, who created it or who owned it, is asked to call Cst. Shawn Urban at 519-344-8861 ex. 6163 or Sarnia Lambton Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.

Police have arrested four people in connection with the thefts and are looking for more suspects.

New military crosswalk in Sarnia to be unveiled

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
