Planned 401 closure in London area

A section of busy Highway 401 in the London area will be fully closed for a 12 hour period this weekend.

The Ministry of Transportation says the eastbound and westbound lanes from Iona Road to Colonel Talbot Road will be shut down from Saturday April 27 at 9 p.m. until Sunday April 28 at 9 a.m.

The closure is to allow for demolition of the east half of the Union Road underpass.

Major delays are expected.

Highway 401 traffic will be rerouted via Iona Road, Talbot Line and Colonel Talbot Road.

There'll be OPP assistance at intersections.
