Officer assaulted, trafficking charges laid in Grand Bend

A Lambton OPP officer was assaulted during a traffic stop in Grand Bend early Sunday and two men were charged with drug trafficking.

Police stopped a vehicle on Main Street East at 4 a.m., and arrested the driver for drug possession, but the passenger allegedly assaulted one of the officers and fled.

The passenger was taken into custody after a short foot pursuit.

Kyle Robert Lenssen, 31, of Grand Bend is charged with four counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking, assaulting a peace officer, resisting arrest, possession of stolen property under $5,000, and breach of probation.

Kyle Joseph Campbell, 32, of Exeter is charged with drug trafficking.

The two were being held pending bail hearings.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
