Rare bank notes, coins stolen from Sarnia home

Rare banknotes and coins were stolen from a home in a brazen daylight break and enter last weekend.

Sarnia police said someone forced their way through a door at a residence in the 300 block of Fanshawe Drive on Saturday between 10:15 a.m. and 2:30 p.m.

Silver dollars, 50 cent pieces, old $5, $2, and $1 bills, and very old, unique and rare Newfoundland banknotes of various denominations were taken.

A number of gold jewellery pieces were also stolen.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
