Habitat for Humanity Sarnia-Lambton has received national recognition again.
The local agency won a Housing Innovation Award at Habitat for Humanity Canada's national conference in St. John's Newfoundland.
The award was for the Guthrie Drive Seniors Build, a seniors-only multiplex with five, private, 975 square foot units.
It was the first purpose-built affordable seniors' housing undertaken by a Habitat affiliate in Canada.
In 2016 Habitat Sarnia/Lambton won a Housing Innovation Award for a project on Devine Street, the first partnership with Lambton County where Ontario Works recipients gained employable skills while volunteering in the construction process.
CEO David Waters said they're not in it for awards.
"We do what we do to give people the opportunity to live or stay in a decent, safe, affordable home," he said.
