Man charged with trafficking cocaine

A 40-year-old Sarnia man faces trafficking charges after police seized $13,000 in cocaine and currency during a drug bust Thursday night.

As part of an ongoing investigation, Sarnia police observed a man allegedly conducting a drug deal in the area of Devine Street and Indian Road around 8:50 p.m.

Police said they seized packaged cocaine and over $1,500 in currency.

Additional cocaine and $3,500 in currency were seized from a residence in the 100 block of Kathleen Avenue.

In total, police seized 79.5 grams of cocaine with a street value of $8,000 along with $5,000 in currency.

Jon Douglas Williamson is charged with possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking and one count of trafficking in a Schedule I substance.

He was being held in custody pending a bail hearing.
