Canada Day weekend busy for Sarnia police

Underage drinking and people with open alcohol kept Sarnia police busy on Canada Day.

Cst. Nelson Amaral said officers dealt with numerous liquor infractions during the day at Canatara Park and throughout the evening at Centennial Park Monday.

While no arrests were made at Canatara Park, Amaral said three people were taken into custody once the party shifted to Centennial Park.

He said two adult males were arrested for being intoxicated in public and an adult female was arrested for breach of the peace.

In total, Sarnia police responded to 340 calls for service over the long weekend -- 17 were in relation to the liquor license act.

There were 27 welfare checks on people, 20 unwanted persons, 14 noise complaints and 12 motor vehicle collisions.

Officers issued 22 tickets for various infractions -- five of them were for careless driving.
