Teen charged with assaulting Anishinabek officer

An 18-year-old man from Paris, Ontario was arrested on Sunday after an Anishinabek police officer was assaulted.

A man was stopped on West Ipperwash Road for a Liquor Licence Act violation. It's alleged the suspect provided police with a false name and tried to flee on a bike.

Police said a brief struggle ensued, and an officer was kicked in the face. Luckily, he didn't suffer any serious injuries.

The suspect was later found at a cottage on London Road in Lambton Shores with help from the OPP.

He's charged with assaulting a police officer, and public mischief. He was released from custody and will appear in court in September.

Police are thanking the public for its assistance.
