Police seize $11K worth of mugs and glasses

A Sarnia woman faces several charges after city police seized around $11,000 in stolen goods from a Melrose Avenue home.

Cst. Nelson Amaral said nearly $5,000 worth of Yeti mugs were taken from a London Line store during a three week period from May to June, and over $6,000 worth of sunglasses and eyeglass frames were stolen from a store on Lambton Mall Road between June 8 and 26.

He said officers executed a search warrant June 27 in the 700 block of Melrose Avenue.

Police seized 26 Yeti Mugs and 37 pairs of glasses, along with half a gram of suspected crystal methamphetamine and a small amount of suspected cocaine.

A 44-year-old was charged with theft over $5,000, two counts of theft under $5,000, two counts of possession of property obtained by crime, two counts of possession of a controlled substance, and breach of probation.

She was released from custody on a promise to appear in court at a later date.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
